How to Get to Vienna and TU Wien

Vienna is conveniently accessible by both air and rail.

The closest airport is Vienna International Airport (VIE). From the airport, the journey to TU Wien takes approximately 35–45 minutes, depending on the connection.

Vienna's main railway station, Wien Hauptbahnhof (Wien Hbf), is also very well connected to TU Wien. From the main station, the journey to Karlsplatz takes approximately 15 minutes by underground.

From Wien Hbf to TU Wien

From Wien Hbf, take the U1 (red line) in the direction of Kagran to Karlsplatz. This is two stops. At Karlsplatz, use the exit towards Karlsplatz or Resselpark. TU Wien is only a short walk from the station.

From Vienna Airport to TU Wien

For current train connections, schedules and tickets, please use the ÖBB website.

We recommend taking the next available train connection rather than waiting for a particular service. Tickets can be purchased at the ticket machines at the airport railway station or online.

ÖBB Railjet to Wien Hbf

The ÖBB Railjet provides a direct connection between Vienna Airport and Wien Hbf.

Tickets can be purchased at the red ÖBB ticket machines at the airport railway station or online via ÖBB.

City Airport Train (CAT)

The City Airport Train (CAT) provides a non-stop connection between Vienna Airport and Wien Mitte.

Airport taxi

Public Transport in Vienna

Vienna has an extensive public-transport network consisting of underground trains (U-Bahn), trams, buses and suburban trains. Information about public transport, routes and tickets is available from Wiener Linien and Vienna's official tourism website .

Digital tickets can be purchased online. Tickets are also available from Wien Mobil ticket machines and other authorised points of sale. Please check the current fares and ticket conditions before travelling, as prices and ticket options may change.

Hotels

Each participant is responsible for making their own accommodation reservation.

A selection of hotels recommended for the event can be found in the list of hotels cooperating with TU Wien.

Social Event: EuroMPI & IWOMP Joint Dinner

The joint EuroMPI & IWOMP dinner will take place at Rathauskeller / Grinzinger Keller on Wednesday, 7 October 2026
